Ukraine welcomes Macron, but says it will not back down from its red lines

Ukraine is looking forward to talks with French President Emanuel Macron on Russia, but will not be forced to back down from its red lines, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said in a statement on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

It is noted that Macron is visiting Ukraine after yesterday’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A French official said Putin had promised not to take any new military action near Ukraine. But it was not immediately clear what Russia could expect in return.

“We are all looking forward to the messages that Mr Macron has brought from Moscow,” Kuleba said in a statement from a meeting with his counterparts from Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “But I have repeatedly said that we are open to dialogue, we are looking for a diplomatic solution, but we will not back down from our red lines.”
