Ukraine: What the first information says about the murder of two Greek expatriates by soldiers

Two Greek expatriates killed and two others seriously injured in the village of Granitna in eastern Ukraine, as announced today by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But what happened? Journalist Costas Onishenko from Kiev spoke about the incident on Real FM.

“First of all, this action has nothing to do with the current tension on the border. Of Ukraine and in Belarus, where Russian forces are concentrated.

“Also, it is not an action, which in a way targeted the Greeks”, the journalist stressed.

According to him, “there were two groups in a shop in the afternoon. One group, that of the Ukrainian soldiers, had drunk, possibly the second, but the results of the toxicological tests are expected.

The company of the military had a kind of quarrel with the shopkeeper, in which people from the second company intervened, including people of Greek origin, members of the Greek community. “A serious quarrel ensued, someone pulled out a weapon from the military and two people were killed.”

Kostas Onishenko also made a post on his Facebook account, where he states: “Two groups (probably drunk) got into a fight yesterday in the village of Granitne, next to the line of conflict between the Ukrainians and the Russians. As far as I know, in the beginning the company of the military quarreled with the shopkeeper and then the other company that included Greeks intervened. Two people were killed because one of the soldiers pulled out a gun and started firing. These are the sources. So far we know that the action was not aimed at the Greeks and that it is not related to military tension. I do not know anything else. Do not rush to conclusions and do not inadvertently spread misinformation. “By the afternoon we will know exactly what and how.”
