Ukraine: “Zelensky asked Biden to intervene in NATO war”, says Italian publication

THE Volodymyr Zelensky asked him Joe Biden to intervene NATO in the war in Ukrainewhich has been raging since February, claims an Italian publication.

THE Corriere della Sera reports that on the occasion of the missile attack on Poland, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for NATO intervention, insisting that the deadly missiles were Russian “a message from Russia to the G20 summit”. It was also a day of sustained rocket attacks in his country – about 100 fell on Tuesday in major cities on civilian targets. The president of Poland, Andrej Duda, was on the same wavelength.

The US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, and the country’s Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, played a soothing role towards the two leaders throughout the night of Tuesday.

The Italian paper explains that the West must “contain Putin”, but in a way that does not escalate the conflict into a wider, global war – unless it cannot be done otherwise.

On the other hand, and while strengthening Ukraine militarily, it does not fail to keep open, at least the American diplomacy, the possibility of a dialogue for a negotiation with Putin on the basis of “nothing for Ukraine, without Ukraine”.

The issue appears to have been closed on Wednesday, with Joe Biden and NATO stressing that it was a Ukrainian missile that accidentally landed in Ukraine and Poland calling it an accident without yet calling for NATO intervention. Ukraine, however, through President Zelensky, insists that it was a Russian missile.
