Ukraine: Zelensky communicates with Biden over Putin’s announcements

The developments of the last hour on the Ukraine-Russia front were discussed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with his American counterpart Joe Biden, according to Reuters.

According to a White House spokesman, the telephone conversation between the two leaders lasted about 35 minutes.

“We discussed the developments of the last few hours with the President of the United States,” Zelensky wrote in a Twitter post shortly before the start of the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Zelensky added that he planned to contact the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson.

Earlier, when it became known that the Russian National Security Council under President Vladimir Putin was in favor of recognizing the breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine, which are under the control of pro-Russian separatists, the Ukrainian president said that he also convened the National Security Council.

Zelensky also said he had urgent talks with French President Emanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Solz.
