Ukraine’s chief commander promises to reinforce troops in the east after visiting region

Ukraine’s army chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said on Friday (29) that he will reinforce troops deployed in the east with reserves, ammunition and equipment, after visiting two Ukrainian-controlled sites in the Donetsk region.

Russian forces are advancing into the Donetsk region at a faster pace since the early days of the 2022 invasion, and Moscow’s defense ministry said on Friday it had taken control of two new settlements in the region.

However, Syrskyi stated that Ukrainian forces continue to repel Russian advances, after visiting units near the cities of Pokrovsk and Kurakhhove.

“Based on the results of the work, all necessary decisions were made to reinforce units with reserves, additional ammunition, weapons and military equipment,” he said on the Telegram messaging app.

“We continue to contain the enemy and inflict heavy losses in terms of their personnel and equipment.”

The war against Russia has reached a critical point.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to target Ukraine’s “decision-making centers” with his new ballistic missiles, in response to the use of Western-supplied missiles to attack inside Russia.
