Ukraine’s precious minerals and the signature of the long -awaited US agreement – Trump pressure on Zelensky

The US has signed an agreement with Ukraine on the joint exploitation of the latter’s energy and mineral resources after months of tense negotiations. The two countries have agreed to set up an investment fund for reconstruction to boost Ukraine’s economic recovery from war with Russia. US Finance Minister Scott Bessed said this shows that both sides are committed to constant peace and prosperity in Ukraine. For Kiev, the agreement is considered necessary for access to US military assistance. Ukraine is believed to have huge reserves of critical minerals, such as toner, titanium and lithium. It is particularly sought after because of their use in renewable energy, military applications and industrial infrastructure.
