Ukraine’s president confirms meeting for talks with Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, posted on Facebook this Sunday (27) that he agreed that the Ukrainian delegation will meet with the Russian government without preconditions, near the Pripyat River, located in the north of the Ukrainian country.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, took responsibility for ensuring that all planes, helicopters and missiles stationed on Belarusian territory remain on the ground during the trip.

Last Friday, in a video message, the president of Ukraine again asked for direct conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. “I would like to address the President of the Russian Federation once again. There is fighting all over Ukraine now. Let’s sit at the negotiating table to prevent people from dying,” Zelensky said in Russian.

After months of military escalation and intemperance on the Ukrainian border, Russia attacked the Eastern European country. At dawn on Thursday (24), Russian forces began bombing various regions of the country.

Hours earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized a “special military operation” in the Donbas region (eastern Ukraine, where the breakaway regions of Luhansk and Donetsk are located, which he recognized as independent).
