Ukrainian air defense repelled a Russian missile attack on Kiev

Ukrainian air defenses were involved today in intercepting an unusual early-morning Russian missile attack on the capital Kyiv and other cities in the country, local authorities said. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported explosions in the city and called on residents to stay in shelters. He said on the Telegram messaging app that ambulances were heading to districts in central Kiev, but did not immediately provide details on damage or casualties. Local media also reported explosions in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Kropyvnytskyi in central Ukraine. “Attack in Ukraine at a time when most people are on the streets. Crazy Russian terrorists,” Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, wrote on the Telegram app during the attack.
