Ukrainian authorities accuse Russians of bombing maternity hospital in Mariupol

The city council of Mariupol, in southern Ukraine, posted a video of a devastated maternity hospital in the city and accused Russian forces of dropping several bombs in air strikes on Wednesday.

“The destruction is enormous. The medical center building where the children were recently treated is completely destroyed. Information on victims is being clarified,” the council said.

“A maternity hospital in the center of the city, a children’s ward and an internal medicine department. All this was destroyed during the Russian air raid on Mariupol. Right now,” said Pavlo Kyrylenko, governor of the Donetsk region.

Images released on the official Twitter profile of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine show the facade of a building with explosion marks. “Today, Russia bombed a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital in Mariupol,” the ministry accuses.

THE CNN was unable to independently verify that the hospital was in operation and that people were there.

Russia has yet to comment on the Ukrainian allegations.
