Ukrainian commander says there will only be talks if Russia leaves occupied areas

The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, says he reiterated to the head of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, that the “objective of Ukraine is to liberate all Ukrainian land from Russian occupation”.

Zaluzhnyi is said to have told General Milley that “the Ukrainian military will not accept any negotiation, agreement or compromise decision. There is only one condition for the negotiations: Russia must leave all occupied territories”.

The Ukrainian is said to have told Milley that the situation at the front is stable and under control.

“We closely monitor the enemy’s actions on the border with Belarus and build a reliable shield to protect Ukraine in the north,” he said on his Telegram channel.

“The defense forces, despite the fierce resistance of the occupying troops, continue offensive actions in the Kharkiv sector.” Zaluzhnyi said Russian forces had actively attacked on several fronts in the Donetsk region but had not been successful.
