Russia has mobilized more than 94,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and may be preparing for a large-scale military strike in late January, Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov told parliament today, citing intelligence sources.
Reznikov noted that Ukraine would do nothing to provoke the situation, but was ready to fight if Russia launched an attack.
Ukraine and its NATO allies have sounded the alarm about the movement of Russian forces near Ukraine’s borders this year, raising concerns that a simmering conflict in eastern Ukraine could turn into an open war.
