An attack of Ukrainian drone at night caused a fire in an oil tank in the southern region of Krasnodar, Russia, which has been extinguished, regional officials said on Wednesday (5).
The governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, reported on the telegram messaging app on Wednesday that UAV wreckage fell into a tank and a fire began in the village of Novominskaya.
A series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia’s energy facilities have led to fires in recent days in a large oil refinery in the Volgograd region, as well as in the Astrakhan gas processing plant.
“The fire in a tank with residues of oil products in the village of Novominskaya in Kanevsky district was fully extinguished,” said the region’s operational authorities on Telegram.
Previously, Kondratyev said there were no injuries in the fire caused by declines of falling drone.
A team of 19 people with equipment was fighting the flames, he explained.
The governor did not say which deposit was on fire or detailed the extent of the damage.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that four Ukraine drones were destroyed over Russian territory at night, but did not mention the Krasnodar region in a statement on Telegram.
Only drones in the destroyed air defense systems were recorded, without information on how many were released.
There were no immediate comments from the Ukrainian government.
Kiev states that his attacks within Russia aim to destroy the essential infrastructure for the Moscow war in Ukraine and are in response to the Russian continuous bombing in the country.
