Ukrainian Foreign Minister: Russia’s proposal to lift blockade of Black Sea ports blackmailed

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Wednesday that Russia was trying to “blackmail” the international community by presenting the possibility of unblocking Black Sea ports in exchange for easing sanctions.

The Interfax news agency earlier quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko as saying that Moscow was ready to provide a humanitarian corridor for food-carrying ships to leave Ukraine in exchange for a waiver.

Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea have been closed since Russia sent thousands of troops to Ukraine on February 24, and more than 20 million tonnes of grain have been stranded in the country.
