Ukraine has received additional security commitments from the United States to develop defense cooperation, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Saturday.

“We have received additional promises from the United States on how our defense cooperation will develop,” Kuleba told reporters.

He added that he had agreed with the United States to increase pressure on the EU to impose further sanctions on Russia.

It should be noted that US President Joe Biden had a meeting in Warsaw today with the Ukrainian Foreign and Defense Ministers during their meeting with their American counterparts, according to an AFP journalist who was present.

Biden, who met for the first time since the start of the war with high-ranking Ukrainian officials, had an informal conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, next to whom he sat at a long table where the Ukrainian minister was also sitting. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

The meeting took place in a room of the Warsaw hotel, where Biden spent the night and where the Ukrainian and American flags were placed.

Biden met with Kuleba in Washington on February 22, two days before the Russian invasion. Blinken had also met Kuleba in Poland, on the Ukrainian border, on March 5.

On the second day of his visit to Poland, the US President is expected to meet today in Warsaw with Polish leaders.

He will also visit a Ukrainian refugee center and is expected to deliver a speech on Ukraine where, in a month of war, thousands of Ukrainians have been killed, including 135 children, according to Kyiv.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Saturday that he and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had a joint meeting with their US counterparts for the first time.

“We are discussing current issues & cooperation in the political and defense directions between Ukraine and the US,” Reznikov said on Twitter, posting a photo from the meeting in Warsaw with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

“The meeting of ministers of both portfolios” allows us to seek practical solutions in both the political and defense spheres in order to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to repel Russian aggression, “Dmitry Kuleba said in a Twitter post.
