Ukrainian Ministry of Defense denounces Russian attacks on merchant ships

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sibykha condemned the Russian missile attacks on two merchant ships yesterday, calling these actions a “deliberate terrorist tactic”. “In just two days, two commercial cargo ships were destroyed in Odessa by Russian ballistic missile attacks,” Sibiha wrote in a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter). “This is a deliberate terrorist tactic. The forces of all responsible states and organizations must be united to preserve free navigation in the Black Sea and global food security,” noted the head of Ukrainian diplomacy. One dead and five wounded were the toll of a Russian missile attack against a commercial ship with the Palau flag in the port of Odessa, the regional governor Oleh Kiper announced earlier via Telegram. It was the second attack on a cargo ship in southern Ukraine in 48 hours.
