Ukrainian nuclear power plant resumed, says Russian official

Power supply to all cities and districts in the Zaporizhzhia region has been restored after previous interruptions, according to the Russian governor of the occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia.

“As a result of an attack by the armed formations of Ukraine on power lines in the area of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the territory of the safety zone of the 750 kV overhead line caught fire, which was caused by a short circuit in the power lines. “, said Yevhen Balytskyi.

“The nuclear power plant’s relay emergency protection worked, two power units were turned off, after which the Zaporizhzhia region was left without power,” he added.

“Immediately after the fire was extinguished, a unit was put into operation. Work was underway to restore power supply to the region and launch the second unit,” he explained.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has six reactors, but only two are operational at the moment.
