Ukrainian sources: Belarusian troops have invaded Ukrainian territory in the Chernihiv region

Belarus has reportedly recently entered the war – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with Belarussian forces entering the Ukrainian province of Chernihiv in the north of the country, according to the Ukrainian parliament’s Twitter account.

In the post, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) confirms reports that Belarusian soldiers have already invaded Ukrainian territory.

“Belarusian troops have entered the Chernihiv region. The information is confirmed by Vitaliy Kyrylov, a spokesman for Ukraine’s Northern Defense Forces. More details later,” the tweet said.

According to Ukrainian sources, a phalanx of 33 units of the Belarusian land army has entered Chernihiv, north of Kiev, while communications in the area have been cut off.

Earlier in the morning, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had assured that his country was not going to take part in the invasion of Russia by Ukrainian forcesalthough the Russians have used the territory of Belarus for their invasion.
