Umpire rescues child from sand tornado at baseball game; look

An unusual scene happened last Sunday (14), when a referee had to rescue a child from a tornado of sand during a baseball tournament for Mother’s Day.

Recording of the incident, which took place in Fort Caroline, Florida, United States, shows the child disoriented after the formation of the tornado. A referee intervened and took the youth to safety.

“I couldn’t breathe much. (…) I felt like I couldn’t touch the ground, so it was like I was lifted,” seven-year-old Bauer Zoya told WJXT, an affiliate of the CNN .

The boy also pointed out that, even though he was only a few seconds inside the tornado, he felt like he had been there for 10 minutes.

Who “saved” him was Aidan Wiles, 17 years old, who was acting as one of the referees. He reported that he felt a little afraid, but that he was taught that the athletes’ safety comes first. Soon, he knew he must put the fear aside.

Even so, the event did not prevent the child athlete from continuing the match. Bauer’s father splashed sand in his eyes and he came back — the boy still thinks it helped him play better.
