Agencies of United Nations (UN) called this Saturday (21) for a ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access throughout the Gaza Strip after 20 trucks transporting a shipment of aid reached the enclave through the Rafah crossing.
“We call for a humanitarian ceasefire, along with immediate and unfettered humanitarian access across the Gaza Strip to enable humanitarian actors to reach civilians in need, save lives and prevent further human suffering,” said a joint statement from UNDP, WHO, Unicef, UNFPA and PMA.
“Humanitarian aid flows must be scaled and sustained, and allow all Gazans to preserve their dignity.”
The UN welcomed the entry of 20 trucks with humanitarian aid for civilians in the Gaza Strip, but highlighted that the volume “is not enough” to alleviate the deteriorating humanitarian situation. The region received inputs such as water, food and medicine, but not fuel.
