UN: Agreement with Turkey and Ukraine to transfer 14 ships on Monday, October 31

The United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine agreed late Sunday on a plan to move 14 ships in Turkish territorial waters by Monday, Oct. 31.

The deal comes a day after the Russia has suspended its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative that allows food exports from Ukrainian ports.

It was an occasion the attack by Ukrainian drones, air and sea, on the port of Sevastopol, which Moscow claims was carried out with the help of Western countries.

In a statement, the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) in Istanbul, where Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and UN staff work, said the three delegations also agreed to carry out inspections tomorrow, Monday, October 31, of 40 outbound ships.

The JCC emphasized that the Russian delegation was informed of both plans.

Meanwhile, the Russian delegation to the JCC will withdraw “for an indefinite period of time.

The Black Sea Grains Initiative was signed on July 22 in Turkey and since then several million tons of wheat, maize, sunflower oil, oats, canola and soybeans have been exported from Ukraine.
