UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today and told him that the world body plans to “expand humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine,” a UN spokesman said.
“He informed the president that the United Nations would on Tuesday call for funding for our humanitarian operations in Ukraine,” the UN spokesman said in a statement.
UN aid chief Martin Griffiths said on Friday that more than $ 1 billion would be needed over the next three months for aid operations in Ukraine as hundreds of thousands of people move after Russia’s invasion of its neighbor.
