Through a statement from the Irish Minister for Transport, The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) today agreed to investigate forced landing of the Ryanair passenger aircraft, in Minsk, following a relevant order received from its Authorities Belarus.
The 36-member Council of this service UN, based in Montreal, Canada, met to look into requests from the United States and several other countries seeking an investigation. Ryan said that ICAO will present an interim report by 25 June.
“We fully support ICAO’s decision to conduct a transparent and independent inquiry into the incident in Belarus, and we welcome the support of our colleagues around the world to ensure that this is done,” he added.
Belarus has raised a fighter jet to escort a passenger plane to Minsk, using a false bomb warning as a pretext. “These unacceptable actions were an attack on the safety of European aviation and endangered the lives of passengers and crew traveling between two EU capitals,” Ryan said.
The crisis brings flight cancellations

Also, Air France canceled another flight from Paris to Moscow, which was scheduled for tomorrow, after the Russian Authorities did not approve the flight plan that would bypass Belarus, an airline spokesman said.
The French company, belonging to the Air France-KLM group, had canceled another flight to the Russian capital on Wednesday (26/05), amid tensions between the European Union and Belarus, an ally of Russia, on the occasion the forced landing of a Ryanair aircraft in Minsk, where an dissident journalist was arrested.
