The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, expressed deep regret at the resumption of fighting between Israel and Hamas.
“I deeply regret that military operations have resumed in Gaza. I still hope it will be possible to renew the break [no conflito]. The return to hostilities just shows how important it is to have a true humanitarian ceasefire”, said Guterres in a publication on X this Friday (1st).
Furthermore, James Elder, spokesman for Unicef, the United Nations Children’s Fund, denounced what he called the “war on children” in a video message recorded in one of the last hospitals in Gaza.
“We can no longer see children with war wounds. With the burns, with the shrapnel scattered throughout the body, with the broken bones. The inaction of those with influence is enabling the murder of children. This is a war against children,” she pointed out.
Elder also highlighted that shelling in the area could be heard from inside the hospital and that an attack occurred approximately 50 meters away from the healthcare facility.
