UN Security Council condemned the terrorist attack on Prophet Elias of Damascus

The United Nations Security Council condemned in the most intense way the “heinous and cowardly terrorist attack” that committed suicide bomber at the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias in the Douila district of Damascus in Syria. The attack, which occurred on June 22, 2025 and “aimed at Christians in their worship,” caused the deaths of at least 20 people and injuring dozens of others. Council members expressed the “deep support and condolences to the families of the victims and the Syrian people”, while wishing “rapid and complete recovery to the injured”.
