Israeli air strikes killed at least six Palestinians who protected aid trucks against Gaza Strip, said authorities linked to Hamas on Friday (23).
After 11 weeks of Israel’s blockade, Humanitarian aid returned to the Palestinian territory. Since then, the entry of 305 vehicles has been released.
The Israeli military said that 107 trucks carrying flour and other foods, as well as medical supplies, entered the Gaza Strip by Kerem Shalom’s passage on Thursday (22).
But supply of supplies to people who are sheltering in tents and other makeshift accommodations has been irregular and UN authorities say it takes at least 500 to 600 aid trucks per day.
So far, according to a network of Palestinian aid groups, 119 aid trucks have passed Kerem Shalom’s passing point and have entered Gaza since Israel flexible the blockade on Monday in the face of international clamor.
Despite the flexibility of the blockade, the distribution was harmed by withdrawals by men groups, some of them armed, near the city of Khan Youis, said the network that represents Palestinian aid groups.
“They stole foods intended for children and families who suffer from severe hunger,” the network said in a statement, who also ordered Israeli air strikes against security teams that protect trucks.
The UN World Food Program said 15 trucks carrying flour to bakeries were looted, which, according to him, reflects the terrible conditions faced by the inhabitants of Gaza.
“Hunger, desperation and anxiety about the arrival of more food help are contributing to increased insecurity,” a program said in a statement.
