Unannounced visit of K. Hatzidakis to EFKA Amarousiou: Visible progress, not complacency

With his post on social media earlier today, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis announced that he made an unannounced visit to EFKA Amarousiou to verify the service citizens receive in their dealings with the service.

“I continue to go unannounced to institutions and services of the Ministry of Labour, especially EFKA” adding “with these visits, I can and do my job better. This morning I went to EFKA Amarousiou, a key address with many insured” said Mr. Hatzidakis.

As he characteristically said, “apparently EFKA Amarousiou has not turned into a paradise. But, thanks to the efforts of the management and the employees there, the insured people I met were happy. The pensions come out faster. Our fellow citizens who have issues with benefits (maternity etc.) are better served. Online appointments work very well. That is also a satisfaction.”

At the same time, the Minister of Labor emphasized in his post that “but we still have a long way to go. To make the daily life of both the insured and the employees better. To the employees who are trying to do their work in adverse conditions, we must immediately give – and we will give it – the special productivity allowance when they issue more pensions. And to complete the procurement of 5,000 new computers which, together with the 3,000 that have been operating for the last few months, will modernize the EFKA and increase productivity.”

Regarding the service to the citizens, Mr. Hatzidakis said that the EFKA is “in the final stretch for the issuance of the main pensions. And from September we will proceed with the digital KEPAs that will greatly reduce the suffering, especially of people with disabilities, in relationship with EFKA”.

“Progress is visible, but there is no room for complacency,” the Minister of Labor emphasized. As he commented, “the new law on EFKA has laid the groundwork to modernize the Agency (with faster procurement, with faster examination of complaints, with new recruitments being launched and with management personnel with increased qualifications for critical positions)”.

“My decision is to continue the effort with the same dedication. It is important to change services and institutions that some had written off in their consciousness. So we continue with persistence, with determination and with a commitment to the goal!” concludes the minister.
