“Uncle Paulo” case: Driver says in testimony that elderly man was alive when he got into the car

The app driver who helped put the elderly Paulo Roberto Braga, aged 68, in the car, stated in a statement to the Police that when he got into the vehicle and got off at the bank branch, in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio, the man was still with life. The information comes from the delegate of the 34th DP, Fábio Luiz da Silva Souza, interviewed by CNN .

The delegate also said that Érika, upon noticing Paulo's health condition, came forward so she could take him to the bank branch to withdraw the money.

“She [Érika] expedited this conduct and called the app driver. He went to the mall and put it on [Paulo] in the chair”, says Fábio Luiz.

According to the delegate, the elderly man arrived at the mall alive, but when he entered the bank branch he was already dead.

“He entered the mall still alive, but already inert. But inside the mall we see his image that appears to be lifeless (…) then she [Érika] goes to the bank and when he [Paulo] We clearly see that he is no longer alive.”

For Fábio Luiz, the niece tries to simulate as if the elderly Paulo Roberto Braga was alive, with the intention of misleading the attendants and showing the elderly man's fragility, to speed up the withdrawal of the loan.

The case:

The videos went viral on social media and show the woman carrying her supposed uncle in a wheelchair, trying to get him to sign a document to withdraw a loan worth R$17,000.

In the images, it is possible to notice that bank branch employees, suspicious of the man's health, began filming the scene.

In the video, the woman simulates a conversation with her uncle and tries, unsuccessfully, to make her relative hold the pen. “If you don’t sign, there’s no way, I can’t sign for you.”

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Fábio Luiz da Silva Souza, it was found that when he arrived at the bank branch to make the loan, the man had already been dead for some time.
