Under 24 hours of rain, Civil Defense of Petrópolis opens 5 support points

The Civil Defense of Petrópolis is opening, this Wednesday (2), five support points (installations considered safe to shelter residents of risk areas) due to the consistency of the rains in the last 24 hours. The city was the scene of a tragedy in February this year, with landslides and the death of at least 200 people, after being hit by heavy rains. In 1988, another disaster had already claimed 171 lives.

The support points announced this Wednesday will serve the localities of Quitandinha, São Sebastião, Vila Felipe, Independência and Chácara Flora.

According to the Civil Defense, these locations had accumulated rainfall greater than 120 mm, which increases the geological risk.

The forecast is for continued rain for this Wednesday, with weak to moderate intensity intermittently.

The orientation is that residents who feel insecure and who need a place for shelter move to these places.
