According to a statement by Luci Ross, Secretary General of the Prefecture of Od, at the French News Agency (AFP), the fire has now been limited. The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon in the village of Rimbot, between Narbonne and Carcasson. Since then it has swept 170,000 acres of pine forests and shrubby, of which 130,000 became ashes, according to the Civil Protection Service. During the day, firefighters focused their efforts on fireplaces that were described as “active”.
