Specialists of the Dagenergo company, a branch of the Russian state-owned company Rosseti North Caucasus, found and destroyed an underground mining farm for 135 devices. The farm worked in the basement of a residential building on Laptiev Street in the capital of Dagestan Makhachkale.

Power engineers said that illegal connection to the network caused interruptions in electricity among residents of this house and neighboring buildings. The interruptions lasted several months. The cryptocurrency farm consumed electricity as much as a separate residential building, said in Dagenergo.

Now the owner of the equipment is looking for law enforcement agencies. He faces a criminal case for the theft of electricity on an especially large scale. After the check, all the equipment found on the farm was arrested.

Since January 1, the Russian government introduced a complete ban on mining in several regions of the country, including Dagestan. In most other regions, mining of digital assets is possible only under state control.
