Underlying price index of personal consumption spending rises 0.5% in November, higher than the 0.4% expected

The personal income and expense report did not generate major surprises in the market, with several figures in line with expectations. The personal income it increased 0.4% in November, equal to the market consensus. The 0.6% rise in personal expense it also matched expectations.

Among the most relevant data was that of underlying price index of personal consumption expenditure which showed an increase of 0.5% in November, above the 0.4% of the estimates. Compared to a year ago, the increase was 4.7% higher than the 4.5% expected and the 4.2% of the previous month. This data is closely followed by the Federal Reserve.

The economic calendar shows ahead Thursday that the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index and the new home sales report will be released. These numbers will be the last of the week. Friday will be a holiday in several countries.
