Understand the eye infection that affected Pedro Pascal and how to avoid contamination

When it comes to interacting with fans, Pedro Pascal tops the list. Recently, the actor, known for playing Oberyn Martell in “Game of Thrones” and Joel in “The Last of Us”, opened up about unusual encounters with followers.

During a round table with “The Hollywood Reporter”, the artist spoke with Jeff Bridges, Kieran Culkin, Damson Idris, Michael Imperioli and Evans Peters and recalled one of those moments that escape the rule.

“I remember back in the day, because of ‘Game of Thrones’ and the way my character died… people were really into taking selfies with their thumbs in my eyes,” he began.

“And at first, I was so sincere and happy with the success of the character on the show that I left,” he continued.

However, what seemed like just a joke or a moment of fun, became something more serious. “And then I remember getting an eye infection,” she added.

During the fourth season of the successful production on HBO, Pascal’s character was killed by Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane, played by Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson who, in a scene, gouged out his eyes before breaking his skull in a bloody battle.

As he listened to Pedro’s account, Kieran Culkin, who stars in “Sucession,” joked, “Wow, that’s a lot of confidence.”

On social media, netizens commented on the incident. “It looks like Pedro Pascal took the performance way too seriously,” said one. “This scene is f*** but guess what I can’t watch because of the thing in my eye,” wrote another.

A third still recalled the family’s reaction to the epic moment. “I remember that I watched this scene with my father and uncles, everyone was chatting about the series and then he started to die and everyone was silent”.

What is an eye infection?

As ophthalmologist Tiago César Pereira Ferreira explains, eye infection is precisely the presence and multiplication of pathogenic agents, such as bacteria, viruses or fungi, in the tissues or structures of the eye.

“These agents can cause inflammation and damage to the eyes, resulting in symptoms such as redness, itching, pain, secretion, sensitivity to light, blurred vision, among others”, he comments.

It is worth mentioning that there are different types of infections, including conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, endophthalmitis, among others, each with its specific characteristics and forms of treatment.

“In general, ophthalmologists prescribe topical medications such as eye drops or ointments to fight the infection”, emphasizes the specialist who leaves a warning. “Hands are one of the main transmission routes for microorganisms”.

“The Mandalorian” Secret Revealed

Still in the conversation, Pedro also revealed that in the most recent seasons of “The Mandalorian”, he abandoned the armor of Din Djarin and was only responsible for lending his voice to the character in a dubbing studio.

“There was an extensive amount of experimentation, being in the suit for a long time, and frankly my body just wasn’t ready for the four-month task,” he explained.

“But I was [na armadura]. I was in it a significant and elastic amount. But now we’ve fixed that, which is super cool and incredibly, it’s given me the opportunity to do something else,” she explained.
