Understand what feed zero is, a Gen Z trend on social media

Digital natives, young people from Generation Z began to show more reserved behavior on social media. This choice gave rise to the trend of zero feed when an active Instagram profile does not have any photos published.

Instead of a feed made up of the best photos, the best moments, Generation Z — born between 1995 and 2010 — prioritizes ephemeral publications, such as Stories, in which videos and photos disappear after 24 hours.

This behavior guarantees more spontaneous, less planned, authentic posts with little or no editing, getting closer to the reality that the young person is living.

Different from Millennials — born between 1982 and 1994 —, which supplied social networks such as Orkut, Fotolog, and the beginning of Instagram and Facebook, with countless photos, young people demonstrate an aversion to exposure, whether due to shame or discouragement at creating elaborate publications.

This trend goes in the opposite direction of the development of digital platforms, as does Instagram, which recently increased the limit of photos published in a carousel.

At the same time that young people seek freedom, using it to act more discreetly on the internet, they will have to face the new settings of the photo platform, which will require authorization from parents of children under 16.
