The year was 1969, and a march of patrons of a gay bar, in the Manhattan area, in the United States, called for an end to the violence committed against the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, customers held hands and asked them to respect their basic right: to exist.
With this, June 28 became known as International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day.
Since then, entities, organizations and governments use the month of June with the objective of raising awareness of the population about the importance of fighting crimes against the community, guaranteeing rights, and a society free of prejudice.
The violence suffered by the population is still the priority agenda of the community.
Next Sunday (19), Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, will host the 26th LGBTQIA+ Pride parade.
The event will be attended by artists such as Pabllo Vittar, Luísa Sonza, Pocah, Mc Rebecca and Liniker.
The São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade Association (APOLGBT-SP) confirmed on Tuesday (14) that it had received death threats and attacks against the event. The organization accused the receipt of an email with LGBTphobic content and threats against the lives of the organizers and participants of the Parade, and reported having opened a police report against the senders, whose names were not disclosed.
In addition to the complaint, the Association also alerted the Municipal Secretary of Human Rights and Citizenship and the Secretary of Justice and Citizenship of the State of São Paulo.
