The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is today appealing for $9.9 billion in donations to help millions of children victims of war and crisis around the world by 2025, stressing that humanitarian needs have reached “historic” levels. “The scale of children’s humanitarian needs has reached an all-time high, and more children are affected every day,” warned the head of the UN Children’s Agency, Kathryn Russell, in a press release released by her agency. “We estimate that 213 million children in 146 countries and territories will need humanitarian assistance during the (next) year, a staggeringly high number,” he added.
