A 6-year-old boy was killed by bullets on a highway on Friday California, when his mother came into conflict with another driver, according to local media.
The mother of little Aidan Leos was leaving the child at his school in Orange, about 50 kilometers southwest of Los Angeles, when a car overtook her making a dangerous maneuver. The woman and the other driver exchanged obscene gestures, until one of the two people in the second car shot at her and hit the boy sitting in his special seat.
“She said, ‘Mom, my belly hurts,'” Aidan’s sister, Alexis Clooney, told local Fox 11 television channel.
Aidan was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
“This is an isolated act of driving violence,” Florentino Olivera, a California traffic officer, told the Los Angeles Times.
The two people who were in the vehicle from which the fire originated have not yet been identified.
Last Tuesday in Washington a woman and her 5-year-old son were injured by bullets, after the mother asked a man who was riding an electric skate to cut speed.
Since the beginning of the year, 119 children under the age of 11 have been killed by bullets in the United States and 274 have been injured, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
