United Arab Emirates speak to Rubio who reject Palestinians

The United Arab Emirates leader spoke to United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on Wednesday (19) that he rejects a proposal to move Palestinians from his lands, said Emirates’s state news agency Wam.

President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan’s comments came after US President Donald Trump proposed Gaza’s taking by Americans and the resettlement of Palestinian inhabitants in Jordan and Egypt, causing wide opposition between Arab countries and western allies.

Nahyan commented to Rubio during a meeting in Abu Dhabi, which was important to link Gaza’s reconstruction to a path that would lead to “a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution” to the Israeli-Pastine conflict.

The position of the United Arab Emirates on conflict is important because it is one of the four Arab countries that normalized ties with Israel during the first Trump government and played a role in financing reconstruction work after previous conflicts.

Arab diplomacy in Gaza aims to develop an alternative to Trump’s plan for the territory, much of which is in ruins after Israel’s 15 -month military campaign against Hamas, with almost all 2.3 million inhabitants now homeless.

Egyptian leaders, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and Qatar discuss the plan in Saudi capital this month, before it can be presented to an Arab League summit in Cairo in March.
