United Kingdom Police indicates captain involved in ships collision

The United Kingdom police said on Friday that he accused the captain of the container ship who collided with a tanker earlier this week of manslaughter and severe neglect.

Vladimir Motin, 59, was the Portuguese flag Captain of Solong, who hit tanker Stena Immulate, who carried military aviation fuel, almost at full speed on Monday (10).

Motin was arrested in police custody and will appear to the Hull Magistrates Court on Saturday (15), police said.

A member of the crew, 38 -year -old Filipino Mark Angelo Pernia died while 36 other crew members survived and were taken to the coast.

The collision caused large fires and explosions and poured aviation fuel in the sea. The initial concerns of an environmental disaster declined, as the evaluations showed that aviation fuel had burned largely and there were no signs of other leaks on any of the ships.

Rescue companies approached the two ships on Thursday (13) and were conducting initial damage assessments, the Coast Guard said. In an update on Friday, he said that there were only small periodic fire focuses, which were not causing “improper concern.”

Police said extensive investigation lines are underway, but it was taking too long, as the ships were still in the sea and there were a large number of witnesses involved.

The Russian embassy in London said in a shared statement on the Telegram messaging platform that he had a “detailed telephone conversation” with the captain on Thursday and that he was feeling good.

The embassy said it was also in close contact with the British authorities. The incident occurs in a moment of tense relationships between London and Moscow.

Five Russian citizens were aboard the container ship, Tass said, quoting the embassy.
