United Natural Foods fell 1.7 percent in pre-conference trading as the food wholesale company reported lower-than-expected earnings for the second quarter, offsetting better-than-expected sales.
The US company reported a net profit of $ 66 million or $ 1.08 per share for the quarter ended Jan. 29, higher than $ 59 million or $ 1 per share a year ago.
Adjusted earnings per share were at $ 1.13, marginally lower than the estimates for $ 1.14.
Sales rose 7.5 percent to $ 7.416 billion from $ 6.9 billion, higher than the $ 7.144 billion estimate.
The company upgraded sales estimates in 2022 to $ 28.2-29.7 billion, up from a previous estimate of $ 27.8-28.3 billion.
It maintains estimates for adjusted earnings per share of $ 3.90-4.20.
