The CEO of Unity, a 3D development tools company, expressed the view that in the next few years, most sites will move into the metaverse.
During his speech at conferences AWE, dedicated to augmented reality, CEO of Unity John Riccitiello (John Riccitiello) said that 2D-sites will become part of the metaverse and will be interconnected. In his opinion, only three types of web destinations will remain:
-
sites that will be fully integrated into the metaverse and defined as places where users could live and inhabit;
-
real places where users could get enhanced features using augmented reality technologies;
-
sites that will become a small addition on top of our world – their tasks will be purely utilitarian.
Riccitello stressed that in order to use all three types of sites, it will be necessary to have special equipment, which must be adapted to smartphones and PCs. At the same time, interaction with these websites will occur in real time. That is, the structure of the “space” of the site will change depending on the actions of the visitor.
Unity’s CEO stressed that in the future, providers of engines tailored for real-time interactions will be very important. He noted that now more than 50% of such tools are supplied by his company.
Earlier, the former CEO of the American division of Nintendo Reggie Fils-Aimé (Reggie Fils-Aimé) said that the metaverse is the future of the gaming industry, and all developers need to focus on them.
