O Universal Orlando Resort announced this Thursday (8) that a new minion area will open at Universal Studios Florida in summer of 2023.
christening of Minion Land the space will be located on Illumination Avenue and will feature an unprecedented, fully interactive attraction.
According to a press release, the attraction combines innovative display technology, state-of-the-art game interactivity and well-crafted sets in immersive environments.
THE Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast has been developed together with the filmmakers at Illumination Entertainment, the studio responsible for the animations “Despicable Me” and “Minions”.
The attraction will transport tourists to Villain-Con, the “largest criminal convention on the planet”, where they participate in a competition to find out if they are capable of becoming the new members of The Vicious 6, a group of supervillains from the movie “Minions 2: The Origin of Gru”.
Visitors will be given an interactive controller and step onto a motion-guided treadmill to test their skills.
They will then have to jump and slide through several scenes, where they will earn points by exploding a variety of items and “cause as much chaos and destruction as possible”.
The unprecedented area will also include the attraction Despicable Me Minion Mayhem a simulator already in operation at the park, as well as a Minion Café and other surprises inspired by popular characters from the studio’s franchises.
