Universal Studios announced that its Hollywood and Universal CityWalk theme parks in Los Angeles County will be closed this Wednesday (8) due to “extreme wind and fire conditions”.
“We will continue to assess the situation and hope to open tomorrow. The safety of our team members and our visitors is our highest priority,” the company wrote on X.
The fire in the region is out of control, threatening the most populous county in the United States and destroying thousands of structures. Additionally, firefighters reported that there were deaths.
Ariel Cohen, meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service in LA, highlighted the unprecedented situation in the area.
“This is one of the worst situations we have ever seen. This is a unique and volatile combination of weather parameters that have combined with some of the most extreme, destructive and fatal wind storms we are experiencing in the area,” he highlighted.
