Universe must end before what scientists thought; understand

Scientists have found that the universe can end up before the calculations predicted . The team of researchers said the End of cosmos should arrive in about 10⁷⁸ years (one 1 with 78 zeros) and not 10¹⁰⁰ years, as other scientists predicted.

“The definitive end of the universe will come much earlier than expected, but fortunately it still takes a long time,” said the expert in black holes Heino Falke in a press release.

The study published in May in Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics It was made by the trio of scientists composed by Falcke, the quantum physicist Michael Wandrak and the mathematician Walter Van Suijlekomm of Radbid University in the Netherlands.

The calculation was based on Hawking radiation, defined by physicist Stephen Hawking in 1975. His theory goes against Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, published in the 1900s, which postulates that particles and radiation could escape from a black hole.

With the opposite thought, he says that at the edge of this space two temporary particles can form and, before they are founded, one is sucked into the black hole and the other escapes – generating hawking radiation. This would cause its slow decay and contradict Einstein’s idea that they only grow.

The previous results that defined the end of the universe used the ideas proposed by the theory of relativity and indicated a period of 10¹¹⁰⁰ years, 93% longer than that found by the Dutch researchers.

They simulated how long the white dwarf stars, the most persistent celestial bodies would decay due to Hawking radiation and applied the results to our cosmos. In addition, they have defined that neutron stars and black holes will disappear after 10⁶⁷ years – an unexpected result, as their strongest gravitational field should cause them to “evaporate” faster.

Still, they concluded that the moon and a human, if affected by the same waves, would disappear after 10⁹⁰ years.

From these results, the research that combines astrophysics, quantum physics and mathematics can generate new results. “By asking this kind of question and analyzing extreme cases, we want to better understand theory and, perhaps, one day unraveling the mystery of Hawking radiation,” said Walter Van Suijlekom, one of the study’s authors.
