University of Michigan consumer sentiment improves expectations and jumps to 88.3 in April

The index of University of Michigan consumer sentiment has risen to 88.3 in April from 86.5 in March, exceeding the 87.5 expected by the market. This is the best figure recorded by the indicator since March 2020.

The Chicago PMI purchasing managers index was previously published, which rose to 72.1 in April compared to 66.3 the previous month, improving the 65.3 forecast by experts. This is the highest reading reached by the indicator since December 1983.
