To reduce costs for the population and use sustainable material, the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (Uergs) began producing ecological soap to be used to clean houses that were hit by floods.
Production is carried out in the Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology laboratory at the Bento Gonçalves unit, in Serra Gaúcha, with the work of students and teaching and administrative staff.
The main ingredient for ecological soap is used cooking oil, which is donated by the community. Other necessary materials such as soda, alcohol and packaging come through donations.
According to the University, production will be carried out as long as there is a need. Deliveries of the product have already been made in the cities of Cruzeiro do Sul, Muçum and Roca Sales. In Bento Gonçalves, deliveries were not made, as there is still no authorization for people to return to their homes.
Anyone who wishes can contribute to the initiative by donating bottles, alcohol with a percentage above 92% and soda with a percentage above 99% or via Pix. To find out how to donate or to request the soap, Uergs requests that contact be made via WhatsApp at (54) 3452-0389.
