Unlicensed firearms since July in Tennessee

A bill that allows residents to armed without the need for permission signed by his governor Tennessee Bill Lee, adding the state to the list of many U.S. states that residents have this feature.

Under the law, which will take effect on July 1, most citizens over the age of 21 who are legally in possession of firearms will be allowed to carry them in public without the need for a permit.

Governor Lee tweeted that he signed the bill because “it should not be difficult for Tennessee law-abiding citizens to exercise their rights under the Second Amendment to the US Constitution,” thanking the state legislature and the NRA for arms lobby, in support of this initiative.

According to AMPE, the National Rifle Association was openly in favor of the law. However, law enforcement agencies in Tennessee have resisted the text, warning that there is a risk that it could lead to an increase in firearms crime and expose police officers to greater danger, according to the Tennessee newspaper.

Of the 50 U.S. states, 31 generally allow it open arms in public places without permission, although it is prohibited in specific locations in each.

Governor Li signed the law the day Democratic President Joe Biden unveils targeted measures to curb gun proliferation and the scourge of mass shootings in the US. Biden described the use of firearms as an “epidemic.”

“Every day in this country, 316 people are shot. Every day. One hundred and six are dying every day, “said Joe Biden, urging the US Congress to push for tougher gun ownership.
