Unlike “Elvis”, Austin Butler imposed limits on “method acting” in “Dune 2”

Austin Butler stated, in an interview with Los Angeles Timeswho reduced “method acting” to play the sociopathic villain Feyd-Rautha in “Dune: Part 2” Comparing to “Elvis” . The technique involves a systematic approach to identifying, understanding, and experiencing a character's inner motivation and emotions.

“Definitely in the past with 'Elvis,' I tried to live in that world for three years and it was the only thing I thought about day and night. “Om Feyd, I knew this wouldn’t be healthy for my family and friends,” she said.

“I made a conscious decision to have a limit. This allowed more freedom between action and cutting because I knew it would protect everyone else outside of the context of what we were doing. That doesn't mean it doesn't penetrate your life. But I knew I wouldn’t do anything dangerous outside of that limit and in a way that allowed me to go deeper,” he continued.

“When the camera was on, it was like you were possessed. When the camera was off, you were still maybe 25 or 30% Feyd. Just enough to still be present and focused, but far enough away to not kill anyone on set,” the director added, Dennis Villeneuve who also participated in the interview.

Butler debuts in the franchise in “Dune: Part 2”, which hits Brazilian cinemas next Thursday (29). The film received 98% approval from specialized critics.

The plot stars Timothée Chalamet who plays young Paul Atreides, heir to the desert planet Arrakis.

After the territory is attacked by conspirators in the first film, Paul embarks on a journey alongside Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremem – a population of Arrakis who live in the desert – to take revenge for his family and planet and try to avoid a future that only he can predict.
