Unprecedented incident in India: Doctor quit mid-surgery because he was not served tea

In more detail and according to Sky News, the incident took place at a local health center in Nagpur, central India, while the doctor in question was performing scheduled surgeries on 8 women from the same family.

After completing the surgeries on four of the women and administering anesthesia to the other patients, the doctor reportedly asked hospital staff to make him a cup of tea.

However, as reported by the Indian NDTV, this did not happen, causing the doctor to become irritated and leave the operating room before completing the planned procedures.

Commenting on the incident, the head of the Nagpur District Council called it a “very serious incident” and stressed that the doctor should be charged.

“This is a very serious incident. If doctors abandon such critical surgeries for a cup of tea, they should be held accountable under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code,” he said.

Finally, in order to complete the surgeries on the remaining women who were already under anesthesia, another doctor was recruitedwhile the unprecedented incident is being investigated.
