Unprecedented mobilization for fugitive 'The Fly' in France – Prison guards 'just had a Sig Sauer against weapons of war'

An unprecedented manhunt has been launched in northern France after an attack on a police cage on Tuesday led to the escape of a prisoner and resulted in the deaths of two prison officers. The attack took place at midday yesterday when the occupants of a car rammed the cage at a toll station in Encarville, before opening fire with automatic weapons on the occupants. Two prison officers were killed and three others were seriously injured. Prisoner Mohamed Amra, known as “The Fly”, who was returning to Evre prison after appearing at the court in Rouen, managed to escape with his accomplices. “We have developed many means to trace not only the fugitive, but also the gang that released him,” French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanen told RTL radio.
