Microsoft has revealed a new modern interface and look and feel for two MS Paint and Photos applications that have been redesigned to fit the new Windows 11 operating system.

The company is working on redesigning nearly all standard Windows 11 apps. In other words, basic pre-installed apps like Clock, Voice Recorder, Calculator, Office, Notepad and others will also be redesigned to better match the look and feel of Windows 11.

In the new versions of MS Paint and Photos, the company is ditching the traditional ribbon menu in favor of a new, Fluent Design-style menu that uses a new File Explorer. As shown in the images provided by Microsoft, the new Paint application will also have a simplified toolbar. The new design will add simple icons for basic tasks.
The updated Photos app should get a fresh interface and improved performance. Users will be offered new editing options, with the tools positioned above the image, as in mobile applications for Android and iOS.

The company will begin shipping updated standard apps for Windows 11 over the next few weeks.
